We have lots of fleeces sent to us at Wit's End flock and we like to make sure we get to use them all for you. However some time will be required by you to prepare the fleece(s) before you ship them to us.
1. ensure your fleece is dry and unfelted
2.make sure there are no insects or insect eggs in the fleece - any moth infested fleeces will be immediately destroyed upon receipt!
3. skirt the fleece - which means remove any loose vegetable matter - straw, soil, leaves etc and remove any dags poop or urinated wool
4.if the fleece requires skirting when we receive it there will be a further £8 added to your final bill for each fleece skirted.
5. any fleeces deemed unsuitable for processing will be set aside either for you own collection or given away after 1 month of non collection
6. once your fleece is ready for shipping ensure it is wrapped in plastic, and boxed or bagged very securely, you'll be surprised how many part ripped bags we receive a year when they have torn in transit. cardboard boxes must not be under pressure when sealed!
ensure your name and any order number is inside the bag or box for easy identification
Please remember that at each stage of the process some wool waste will occur so the final received weight back will be less than you sent. But we will always take great care of your fleeces and preserve as much of it as we can. This of course always depends on the condition of a fleece when it is sent to us.
This can vary depending on the time of year we receive your fleeces. In early Summer we receive a steady flow of orders into our wool shed. We also spend most of summer sorting and washing wool to make use of the fine weather so we spend less time weaving. But as Autumn approaches we spend more time indoors weaving, so our orders speed up. We try to give you a realistic time frame we will complete your order, but we are a slow burn hand processed textile business, just the two of us with a farm full of demanding sheep too! You are always welcome to check in on us and see how we are getting on with your order.
Shipping
We endeavor to get all items shipped within 48 hours of payments received - our business is based in a rural area and weather conditions can cause delays. we will always notify you if this is the case. International orders are always shipped tracked end to end for your and our peace of mind.
